How to Be an Organized Mom

With the new year here, there are no doubts we’ll all be thinking about how we will do this next year different. Health, Finances, Cleaning& even Organization. And I think in this season of life, with young kids, getting organized as a mom feels impossible.

There are always different commitments, kids’ activities, and just taking care of the basic needs of your family and life. With the busyness of the holiday season, it can feel like life is just going to swallow you whole.

So, as we reflect on this last year and are thinking of how to do things differently/better, I want to share with you some ways of How to be an Organized Mom.

Being a mom involves so much work! Did you ever think it would be like this? I know I certainly was not ready for what motherhood would bring: working, running a home, getting my kids here and there to all of their activities, along with feeding & clothing them too!

Learning how to be an organized mom can be crazy hard! But also, organized DOES NOT equal perfection!

It’s a big job! One that I know you love, but can feel overwhelming and extremely difficult at times.

As moms, we don’t often just stop and look at what's going on all around us. We just keep the machine of family and life moving.

Sometimes it gets to the point where you are just in survival mode. You know, doing just enough to get by and keep your sanity hanging on by a thread. But you're not actually getting to enjoy the fruits of your hard work...

If you spend too much time in survival mode, you are going to burn out, and it won’t be pretty.

Life is busy when you are a mom. There’s no getting around that, but I truly believe there are ways that we, as moms, can set ourselves up to keep our sanity!

Let me introduce you to the Busy Mom’s Guide to Organization (for her whole life!).

It’s all the areas I’ve identified that moms can simplify to create more margin (aka more time) and room in her life for the things that truly matter to her.

If you are feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, and always behind when it comes to all things motherhood, I want you to check out these steps on How to be an Organized Mom:

  • Determine your Priorities.

Decide where you want to spend your time and focus each & every day. What are the things that are most important to you, your day, and your family? What habits would you like to try to implement that you are not already doing (health/wellness)? Is there anything you need to try to NOT do (too much time on social media, online shopping, mindless activities)?

If you are not spending time on those things, you must find ways to make changes to your day. That way you are focusing on the things that are most important to you.

  • Do a whole home De-clutter.

If you are finding it hard to keep up with all of your daily “to-dos”, then you probably have more “stuff” than you have time to manage the stuff. Try focusing on one room a week until your whole house is manageable and clutter-free!

  • Use a SIMPLE Paper Planner:

Mama’s to-do lists are never-ending. We generally have 674 things swirling in our heads that need to get done.

Having a paper planner that you can keep close will keep you from forgetting what needs to happen and when. Plus, when you keep it all stored in your mind, you are more likely to become overwhelmed than if you were to just write it all out.

  • Create a Meal Plan:

Feeding your people is a must, so get yourself organized when it comes to meal planning! You will not only save yourself from decision fatigue daily, but you will also save yourself time and money!

*or have meal plans emailed to you weekly!* I am loving these meal plans!!

  • Create a Cleaning Routine:

Once you have your home decluttered, create an easy cleaning routine that aligns with your family’s schedule, priorities, and life. A simple cleaning routine will help you relax and give you time to spend with your most important people!

  • Create (& stick!) to a Budget.

Budgeting may not seem like it fits on this list, but money can bring stress to any and everybody. When you have a solid budget in place it can give you unexpected stress relief and freedom!

If you are feeling frustrated, lost, overwhelmed and don't even know how to be an organized mom, #1: You are not alone in that!

Motherhood is HARD, but know that you are a great mom! With a bit of organization & planning, you can totally ROCK IT and learn how to be an organized mom!!
